During the last two weeks, Pat O’Brien has successfully displayed Kim Foxx’s failures, so much so that the Daily Herald and the Chicago Tribune both came out with glowing endorsements for Pat. How has Kim Foxx responded? She said she will no longer debate Judge O’Brien.
This really should not come as any surprise. Over the last 4 years, Kim Foxx has shown that the only thing she can do well is to try to evade responsibility. Whether it is non-stop violence and looting, her failures to get convictions on violent crimes, to failing to protect victims and witnesses, to the Jussie Smollett case, Kim Foxx has skirted responsibility anytime things get difficult.
Our campaign was very much looking forward to future debates with Kim Foxx at the ABC 7 Chicago/Univision and WTTW Chicago, but because Kim Foxx fears her record being further exposed, as of now those debates are off. It is another sad day in Cook County when an elected official refuses to be held accountable.
“…Protecting residents must always come first.
Unfortunately, Foxx’s performance as state’s attorney has created extraordinary doubts in our minds about her ability to strike that balance. In a year of skyrocketing homicides in Chicago and amid a health pandemic that led to special jail-release efforts, easing off the gas pedal was not the right approach.
…In addition, the mistakes Foxx made in the case against actor Jussie Smollett raise critical questions about trustworthiness…She cut a special deal for someone with clout.
…O’Brien has seen Cook County’s criminal justice system as a state’s attorney, a lead prosecutor, a defense attorney and a Circuit Court judge. You’d be hard pressed to find a more experienced and well-regarded jurist for the job.
…But some [of Foxx’s] mistakes are too serious to warrant a second term. In the race for state’s attorney, in which Libertarian Brian Dennehy is also running, the Tribune endorses Pat O’Brien.”
